Welcome Back

I was delighted to welcome our students back to Cardinal Hume this week. They have made an excellent start and I have every confidence that in 2025-26 your sons and daughters will continue to flourish and succeed. In particular, I would like to commend our new Year 7 pupils. The transition to secondary school is a big change for this group, but they have started brilliantly, showing high levels of organisation and discipline in their first few days.

We are extremely proud of the achievements of Cardinal Hume Catholic School’s Class of 2025. They have earned excellent results again, far exceeding local, regional and national averages with results. This group of young people displayed maturity, dedication and resilience in their time at Cardinal Hume and have been justly rewarded – we wish them every success in their future endeavours.

As we move forward this year, our students should have every confidence that they can enjoy similar levels of success, supported by their families, teachers and friends, and with the guidance of our school motto: fide, labore, caritate.

Our Catholic ethos is the foundation of everything we do here, and as we begin the school year it is fitting that we reflect on our Mission Statement and Aims. We want each individual to search for excellence and be more in all they do, in a culture founded on faith, hard work and kindness. I hope you can take the time to read them on the school website School Mission – Cardinal Hume Catholic School

Our school prayer sums up perfectly how we’d like each of our students to approach every day of their lives:

This day is full of promise and opportunity,
Lord, help me to waste none of it.
