There are lots of opportunities open to year 8 pupils in addition to our extra-curricular timetable. You may be invited to come along to an online conference, or to listen to an inspiring speaker. I might invite you to join other pupils in developing your talents through the CREST awards or to attend a workshop led by school staff or outside visitors.
In year 8 there will be opportunities to attend workshops run by Durham University tutors to find out all about university life and to develop stronger study skills.
We have invited fascinating speakers to give inspiring talks here at CHCS. You may get to hear a talk from the Speakers For Schools network in year 8!
This year, a number of year 8 pupils took part in the Rocking Ur Teens online conference. This is a great opportunity to learn about future choices and hear inspiring talks.
The CREST Awards is open to a number of year 8 pupils each academic year. The scheme is the British Science Association’s flagship programme for young people, providing science enrichment activities which help to inspire and engage young people.
