More Information

  • Waiting Lists

If your child is unsuccessful in gaining a place at Cardinal Hume Catholic School, you may request that your child is placed onto the schools waiting list, which will be maintained according to the schools admissions criteria.

Children will be grouped according to the published criterion.  The length of time someone has been on the waiting list will not be taken into account for the purpose of the allocation of places.  The school will continue to maintain the waiting list during the corresponding school year and outside the normal year of entry.

Each time a place (or places) becomes available at the school while a child is on the waiting list then a new round of electronic random allocation will take place within each category to determine a child’s position.

  • In-Year Transfers

Anybody wishing to apply to Cardinal Hume Catholic School for a place outside of the normal admission round will need to do so by contacting the school admissions team at Gateshead Council.

  • Fair Access Panel

It is a matter of Law that all Local Authorities should have a Fair Access Panel whose remit is to allocate children to a school who do not already have a school place.  This will include pupils who have been previously excluded from another school, or have just moved into the area and have been unable to secure a place by applying directly to a school.

  • Appeals

An Appeal can only be made after you have received written confirmation refusing your child a place at your preferred school.

If you wish to appeal against the decision you should contact the school direct to request a ‘Notice of Appeal’ form.  Once completed this should be returned to school before the date shown below.

Appeals are administered on our behalf by Gateshead Council, who will make contact with you directly shortly after submitting your appeal to school.  They will make arrangements for your Appeal to be heard.  The Appeal Hearings will be heard at Gateshead Council offices.
