Team show initiative to help others
Congratulations to a very special team of Y10 and Y11 students who have recognised the emotional challenges affecting many young people today and have put their ideas into practice to support others. These caring and pro-active young people applied successfully for £150 of funding from the Children’s Society ‘Golden Ticket’ fund. The Cardinal Hume students requested materials including games, puzzles, ‘Squishy’ toys, a Bluetooth speaker to play relaxing sounds, and lavender room scent.
But the students are not content to rest on their laurels. They have developed further ideas for supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing in school, and wrote a letter to Mr Robson to share their ideas with him and other staff. They made a detailed and articulate representation to Mr Robson in front of Rachel Dixon and Bethany Honour from the RISE team at the Children’s Society.
Rachel and Bethany were so impressed with the girls’ ‘Golden Ticket’ bid that they have invited them to join the regional panel of students who judge forthcoming bids from other young people and their names have been put forward for a national award from the Children’s Society.
