Parent Letter – Home Testing

22nd March 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian

As the testing programme continues, we are now able to offer all children the opportunity to take these tests at home. Test kits will be sent home with every child – please let us know if you do not want your child to take part.
All students will come home with 2 boxes containing 3 tests per box and a booklet titled ‘Your step-by-step guide for COVID-19 self-testing’.
Children will be instructed not to open the kits until they are at home to allow the appropriate support and guidance from an adult. Please use the instruction booklet that is separate from the boxes – not the instructions from inside the box. There is also a useful You-tube link to support families with home testing – How to do a COVID-19 Self-Test (rapid antigen test) – YouTube
Students are being asked to test before school twice a week with 3 – 4 days between each test. For example, on Monday before school and then again on Thursday before school.

Test results
You must report your results to the NHS.
If there is a positive result from your LFD test, please email school immediately and include ‘Positive LFD’ in the subject title. A positive result will result in the child and their family having to isolate and seek a confirmatory PCR test.
If the result of the PCR test is negative, the isolation is lifted, and the family can resume normal activities.
If the PCR test is positive, the household will continue to isolate in line with NHS and Government guidelines.

These test kits are for asymptomatic testing only. If anybody displays Covid symptoms, please isolate and seek a PCR test.
If you require any further information, please contact the school office.

Yours faithfully
