Edmund Campion Outdoor (ECO) Adventure 2019-2020

Dear Parent/Guardian

During the course of this academic year, Cardinal Hume School will be offering a range of optional outdoor adventure activities. The activities comprise of residential visits, day trips and evening events. All activities are available on a first-come-first-served basis and places are limited. If you would like your son or daughter to be involved in any part of the programme, they should see Mrs Harwood at Pupil Reception for a consent form.

Combination day of climbing & scrambling, with the aim of reaching a Lake District summit.

Festive Mining Adventure             

An evening trip, departing straight from school. A night of exploring abandoned mines near Alston – with a Christmas twist. Some abseiling may be incorporated.

Sat 25th Jan 2020 Cave Exploration

A full day of caving. Students will be treated to the awesome, untouched underground world beneath the Yorkshire Dales. A wet day with tight spaces and some abseiling.

Fri 27th-Sat 28th March 2020 Easter Overnight Stay and Outdoor Adventure Day – North Pennines

Depending on the weather, students will camp or sleep indoors. Saturday will be a day of underground, above ground and in-the-water adventure!

Outdoor Rock Climbing and Abseiling Adventure

An evening of Easter-themed climbing and abseiling for all abilities. This will take place at a local crag.

Weds 13th May 2020 Bushcraft Evening

An evening of orienteering, fire-building and skills for living in the outdoors. The event takes place near Brampton, Cumbria

Remote camping and bush-craft in the North Lakes, mixed with outdoor adventures (e.g. gorge/ghyll scrambling, canyoning, climbing, abseiling)

Weds 1st Jul 2020 Murphy’s Mountain Miles

Charity fundraising event. Following on from last year’s successful event, the aim will be to climb one of England’s highest peaks.

A very wet and very exhilarating evening of swimming, jumping and sliding.

Residential visit with two very busy days of activities, such as gorge walking, climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing…
