Summer Festival 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian

I am delighted to inform you that your son/daughter has been selected to attend this year’s ‘Summer Festival’. It is a two day camping event organised by the Youth Mission Team, which will run from Wednesday 29th June until Friday 1st July.  The event will be held at Youth Village Consett.  Students will depart school at 2pm the Wednesday and returned to the school by approximately 2.30pm on the Friday.  If pupils normally travel home by school bus they may have to make alternative arrangements on this day.  Pupils will be accompanied by school staff throughout.

It is a time of reflection for the students which will take them away from the normal day to day routine and allow them to explore the spiritual aspect of their self.  There will be a number of speakers, musicians, workshops and prayerful activities that students will take part in.

Students will need to organise tents if they can.  However, the school can assist in providing one if this is not possible.  Appropriate clothing for camping is essential, e.g. water proof jacket in case of rain and such like. They will also need to bring their own sleeping bag, toiletries, towel, appropriate footwear and clothing.

The school will cover the cost of the event and provide food vouchers that will provide a lunch and dinner for each student. A light breakfast is provided by the YMT.  In addition to this there will be food outlets available so students will also be able to purchase provisions on site if they so wish.
