Subject Information

This course leads to a BTEC National Award (=1 A Level) in Science.

It will prepare you to work in a Science based job eg. Technical support, or give you the necessary qualification to access University and College courses with a Science base.

Assessment
There are no exams.
Students submit a sizable portfolio of evidence for each unit.
This is assessed internally.

OPPORTUNITIES

This qualification is ideal for those wishing to go onto lab based work, for example, in hospitals and industry. It is also a recognised qualification for entry onto degree courses at University.

Assessment
There are 2 units that are externally examined on the course:

  • How Organisations use ICT
  • Working to a Brief

All the other unit's are assessed by portfolio evidence, these are assessed
internally by ICT teaching staff and moderated externally by a visiting Moderator.

OPPORTUNITIES

The course provides excellent opportunities for students who wish to enter any industrial or scientific research based employment. The qualification will also allow students to progress to University.
