SUBJECT INFORMATION

Studying Geography in the Sixth Form will give you the opportunity to explore the world around you and develop a greater understanding of Physical , Environmental and Economic aspects of the planet you live on.

The course will equip you with valuable skills that you can use at University or to enter the
world of work.

01. Physical & Human Geography
Rivers, floods & management, the
study of different environments,
population change, food supply,
energy & health issues.
02. Geographical Skills
Investigative skills, ICT & statistics,
cartographic & graphical skills.
Units
03. Contemporary Geographical Issues
Plate movement, volcanic activity,
earthquakes, climate in different
regions, global climate change,
ecosystems, urbanisation, retailing,
development and sustainability.

(b) Geographical Issue Evaluation
Impact of issues on the
environment, conservation,
exploitation, sustainability and
growth, role of organisation in the
development of schemes.

OPPORTUNITIES

Geography is a good general subject which complements Science and Arts subjects. It is a good A level for those interested in careers in Geography, Geomatics, Earth Science, Town Planning, Logistics, Surveying and many more.
