Dear parent / carer
Re: MFL trip to Paris 15th to 18th July 2019
Following on from a successful visit to France in July 2017, the MFL Department is delighted to offer your child the chance to visit Paris and Disneyland Paris in July 2019. There are up to 44 places available and places will be allocated on a first come – first served basis.
The trip is being provided by Halsbury Travel, a nationally recognised provider of school trips which has been highly recommended by other local schools. The provisional itinerary would include:
Monday 15th July: travel to Paris by coach and ferry/Eurotunnel
Tuesday 16th July: Breakfast in accommodation
Morning: drive to central Paris – Notre-Dame/ Louvre / Tuillerie Gardens
Afternoon: enjoy a river cruise along the Seine / Montmartre – Sacre Coeur
Evening meal in a local restaurant in the city centre
Wednesday 17th July: Breakfast in accommodation
Drive to Disneyland Paris – whole day spent in both parks
Thursday 18th July: travel back to Gateshead (arrive at school at approximately 23:30)
The cost for this visit will be £450. This includes half-board accommodation, travel, entrance to all attractions and travel insurance. As all other costs are covered in the price of the visit, your child will only need to bring spending money for lunch each day and souvenirs or gifts.
Should you wish your child to enjoy this visit, we need a non-returnable deposit of £100 by MONDAY 1st OCTOBER 2018. Deposits can be paid via ParentPay, cash or cheque. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
In order to meet the payment schedule set by the travel company, a further payment of £120 must be paid by MONDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2018. Your subsequent £230 balance can be paid before May 31st 2019 via ParentPay online.
With ParentPay, you are able to pay online using your credit or debit card. This can be accessed from the School website and you will by now, have received your ParentPay log in. If you are unable to locate this, please contact the school office for assistance. Making a payment using your credit or debit card is straightforward. Your card details are not retained by the school. ParentPay holds an electronic record of all online payments for you to view at a later date. When you make a payment, an e-mail confirmation is sent to you, giving you reassurance that the transaction has been successful.
Once your deposit has been received, you will receive medical forms, emergency contact forms, a code of conduct for all students attending school visits and information about travel documentation. A parent’s evening will also be organised to answer any questions you may have, and meet myself and the other school staff who will be accompanying your child on the visit.
May I also take this opportunity to remind all parents that it is crucial that those students participating in the trip can be trusted to behave in a responsible and mature way. As the leader of the visit, I have to be confident that those taking part do not jeopardise the safety and enjoyment of the trip for others. Students are also reminded that they will be representing the school during the visit, and it is therefore essential that they behave appropriately. With this in mind, I will be closely monitoring the behaviour in school of those students involved in the visit. If any student is considered to have the potential to jeopardise the success of the visit, then I am afraid that they will be unable to participate and their places will be offered to other students and deposits will not be refunded.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
Mrs Jane Wood
Head of MFL
