Dear Parents and Carers,
The Prime Minister gave further clarification on the phased opening of schools for Years 10 and 12 in his announcement on Sunday 24th May. The intention is for students in these year groups to begin a gradual return to their studies from Monday 15th June. Please read this letter in conjunction with the detailed information outlined in my letter on Thursday 21st May.
In the light of this announcement, I would like to give you an outline plan of how the phased reopening of the school may look for Years 10 and 12. This is provisional and highly dependent on regularly changing guidance from government, and close monitoring of our local context, in relation to Covid-19 trends:
- There will be no extension to the current arrangements during w/c 1st June. We will continue provision for vulnerable young people and the children of essential workers.
- In advance of 15th June, we will have more teachers in school to allow them to prepare for the phased reopening, and ensure they receive the training and information they need to allow us to welcome more students back to school.
- From mid-June, we would like Years 10 and 12 to have some face-to-face time with their form tutors and other pastoral staff.
- From late-June, it is hoped that Years 10 and 12 will receive some face-to-face curriculum input in the subjects they are studying.
This plan may change slightly, radically or entirely, so I would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. I will keep parents fully informed as plans develop.
Mr. B. Robson
Acting Head Teacher
