We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students at Cardinal Hume on some outstanding examination achievements.
Students in Year 13 met or exceeded the grades required for university entry or progression to an apprenticeship. We are proud to announce that at A Level, they have achieved a 100% pass rate with 82% of results at grade A*-C. Moreover, the proportion of higher grades is excellent, with one in five results graded at A or A*. Students sitting vocational courses also enjoyed tremendous success with a 100% pass-rate and an average grade of D* (Distinction Star).
Our Year 11 students this year were faced with the challenges of new grade scales and changes to specifications, but we are delighted to report that they have earned some outstanding results:
|Grades 9-4 in English and Maths (equivalent to A*-C):||90%||81%|
|Grades 9-5 in English and Maths:||60%||n/a|
|English Baccalaureate ‘Standard’ (requires Grade 4 in English/Maths):||48%||41%|
|English Baccalaureate ‘Strong’ (requires Grade 5 in English/Maths):||44%||n/a|
|Average grade achieved:||B||C+|
|Attainment 8 Score||55||48|
In addition, the proportion of A-A* (including new 9-7 grades) grades achieved was very impressive. A third of all Year 11 students attained 5 or more top grades and 21% managed to secure 8 or more grades in this category.
Finally, we are delighted to report that students coped very well with the rigour of the new GCSEs. In Mathematics, 90% achieved grades 9-4 (equivalent to A*-C); in English, this figure is 94%.
We are extremely proud of the achievements of all of our Year 11 and Year 13 students and wish them every success in the next stages of their education or employment.
