  • If you change address during anytime during the application process, particularly if your child is offered a place it is important that you notify the school and the local authority.

Year 6 Open Evening

Date to be confirmed.

Come along and hear a presentation from our Head teacher and see our fantastic building and facilities.  During the evening you are invited to visit departments and speak to our teachers and perhaps get involved in some of the exciting activities taking place.  There will also be an opportunity chat to some of our students about life at Cardinal Hume Catholic School.

There is no need to book, simply turn up on the night.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Waiting Lists

If your child is unsuccessful in gaining a place at Cardinal Hume Catholic School, you may request that your child is placed onto the schools waiting list, which will be maintained according to the schools admissions criteria.

Children will be grouped according to the published criterion.  The length of time someone has been on the waiting list will not be taken into account for the purpose of the allocation of places.  The school will continue to maintain the waiting list during the corresponding school year and outside the normal year of entry.

Each time a place (or places) becomes available at the school while a child is on the waiting list then a new round of electronic random allocation will take place within each category to determine a child’s position.

In-Year Transfers

Anybody wishing to apply to Cardinal Hume Catholic School for a place outside of the normal admission round will need to do so by contacting the school admissions team at Gateshead Council.

Fair Access Panel

It is a matter of Law that all Local Authorities should have a Fair Access Panel whose remit is to allocate children to a school who do not already have a school place.  This will include pupils who have been previously excluded from another school, or have just moved into the area and have been unable to secure a place by applying directly to a school.
